Irish Dancing Shoe Sizes
Like many things in Irish dancing, choosing shoes can be a bit of a conundrum. These shoes are hand made, so like any crafted item, sizes will vary between manufacturers. In choosing shoes, accurate foot measurements and common sense will go a long way.
Ghillies are not required until dancers are registered to attend a feis, so if you wish to wait, Mary is in the process of locating a selection of used shoes that will be offered for sale. If you wish to purchase new shoes almost all vendors will work with you over the phone to help you find the correct size.
The following charts were provided by two major shoe manufacturers for guidance. However, it is advised that you work directly with the vendor to ensure you are getting the right size before placing an order. Fay's chart is on the left, and Rutherford's is on the right.
